Have you ever thought about what happens to frogs during winter? We tend to forget them with the beginning of cold days until they come back in spring, but where do they spend their winters?

Many frogs will dig the soil and live in the ground to stay warm, but some actually freeze and survive it.

North America has five known species of frogs that can tolerate freezing. Thanks to being cold-blooded (technical term: ectothermic), frogs adjust to the environment temperature pretty well.

If it gets too cold, though, these frogs won’t make it to the next spring.
