]]>As the New York Times reports, the cat will stay at the lab for a month before Huang Yu gets to take him home. This is the first pet cloning case in China and it’s possible for it to turn into a popular business, given that pet cloning hasn’t really developed anywhere in the world. This is not the first pet cloning case in the world, but it is the first time it’s happened in China, a country with a growing market for pet dogs and cats. According to the New York Times, “there are currently 55 million pet dogs and 44 million pet cats” in China right now, with an increasing demand for cats in particular.

]]>The national park will connect 67 panda reserves in the southwestern province of Sichuan — the place where more than 80% of world’s pandas live.
As China Daily reports, China’s National Forestry and Grassland Administration wants to connect the reserves so the different groups of pandas can interbreed and boost the panda population while improving the genetic diversity.
“Giant pandas will be the major species under protection in the national park. Apart from them, more than 8,000 kinds of wildlife, including snub-nosed monkeys, will also benefit,” said Yang Chao, the administration’s director.
