Lake Baikal, the deepest and oldest lake on Earth, is a rift lake in Russia, located in southern Siberia. It is also the largest freshwater lake by volume, containing 22-23% of the world’s fresh surface water.

Its pure water changes to amazing transformation during winter when the lake is covered with ice crust. The methane and oxygen bubbles from the plants when frozen creates out of this world 3D model cosmos. Kristina Makeeva, a photographer from Moscow, happens to capture this remarkable moment.

According to Kristina, the ice in Baikal is the most transparent in the world and you can see everything on the depth of 40 meters. She wants to take this chance to appeal to all the tourists and citizens to preserve this beautiful natural creation.
