]]> Domestic cats are known for many things but being tall isn’t one of them. This is why it’s fascinating to see Fenrir, the 18.83 inches (47.83 centimeters) tall Savannah cat from Farmington Hills, Michigan. This feline is actually the world’s tallest living domestic cat and was recently officially recognized as such by the Guinness World Records.

Besides having a fascinating height, Fenrir also has a fascinating life story. The cat is owned by Dr. William John Powers and is the brother of the late Savannah cat Arcturus. For those not too familiar with cat world records, Arcturus, who passed away in 2017, was the previous record-holder for the tallest living domestic cat category, standing at 19.05 inches (48.4 centimeters). 

“I also feed Fenrir the same special diet I developed for Arcturus, so with similar genetics and the same environment, it’s not shocking that he grew as massive as he did,” explained Dr. Powers.

Due to his size, Fenrir can often look intimidating to some people and is sometimes mistaken for a big cat cub. However, the feline couldn’t be more harmless. As a matter of fact, he serves as a therapy animal, providing stress relief at Dr. Powers’ office.

“I open the door, and he immediately runs in and pops up on the exam table. The patient’s like, “The big boy!’ They’re all happy, petting him,” Dr. Powers shared in a recent chat with Today.
