]]>“She just goes up with a wagging tail, and sniffs them and licks them like a long-lost friend,” Darlene Kindle, founder of CERA, told The Dodo.
When Sammie, an emaciated silver dapple miniature horse, arrived at the sanctuary, the Golden retriever instantly knew it needed her help.
Animal control knew that the neglected skinny horse needed to be treated with care. The local vet found out that the Sammie is 100 pounds underweight with painful dental issues and possible birth defect causing problems with his hind legs. The expenses necessary to bring the health of the horse were substantial and the vet recommended that Sammie is euthanized if animal control could not find a rescue to take him on.
The shelter has reached out to Kindle hoping to find a home for Sammie and she called the vet to know more about the treatment.
Molly welcome the newcomer and after a short meeting that day, the 3-year-old dog made a follow-up visit to Sammie’s pen. “It was later that evening after Sammie got bedded down — I don’t sleep well at night so I was out here sitting in the rocking chair — and Molly was with me and she just walked over to him,” Kindle shared.
Kindle captured the dog and horse’s friendly interaction on video and posted it on Facebook.
