]]>Sphynx cats are only a good choice of pet for people with deep pockets. Taking care of them doesn’t come cheap, especially since they require a high-protein diet due to their high metabolism.
Sphynx cats aren’t huge fans of low temperatures due to their lack of fur. They’re constantly seeking warmth, so you’ll have to turn the heat up for them and provide enough places where they can seek warmth.
If you’re thinking of adopting a sphynx cat, get ready to give it frequent baths to remove accumulated dirt and grime because their skin tends to produce a lot of oil.
Sphynx cats are prone to certain skin conditions such as sunburn due to their lack of fur, and that’s worth keeping in mind if you’re taking them out in warm weather.
If you’re thinking of adopting a sphynx cat because their lack of fur makes them hypoallergenic, think again! They can still produce allergens and aren’t a great choice for people with cat allergies.

]]>This didn’t stop Zilla from taking Lucy home and taking good care of her. She read a lot about Lucy’s condition and was prepared to give her the best care possible. Unfortunately, the Sphynx had digestive and eye problems in the meantime, but with the help of the “amazing veterinarian,” she managed to overcome them.
Now Lucy is healthy and beautiful, and even though she needs more medical attention than other cats, this doesn’t stop her from living her best life. She even became a social media sensation because of her rare condition that makes her look like an adorable baby bat.
“She is more delicate than a ‘normal’ cat, but it isn’t always a death sentence. Like humans, pets can have disabilities but live happy lives and they can give as much love as any other pet, if not more,” Zilla told Love Meow.
“She loves going out. She sits in a baby stroller or inside a bag and enjoys the view. Every time we go out, she tries to sneak inside one of the two.”

]]>This is Rosie Kitty and Violeta Draseikaitė told Bored Panda about how their family adopted their first Sphynx cat 3 years ago, thanks to their daughter who was 9 years old at the time. Their daughter was volunteering at the local shelter and eventually, she wanted to have a pet of her own. After her mom told her to do research and to find a cat that would fit into their family, the girl made a list and her first choice was a Sphynx cat.
Even though they were hesitant at first, the family started looking for a new pet and after a while they met their first cat – Ollie. The mom says it was love at first sight.
“His big bug eyes melted my heart, and his jumbo ears put a smile on my face that I could not get rid of. I knew right away that he would join our family,” they told Bored Panda.
Later, a pink girl with two different colored eyes named Rosie joined their family. Ollie and Rosie fit in perfectly and they soon had their first litter of kittens. Since the family couldn’t take care of all the babies, they only kept one of them – Poppy.
They soon started an Instagram page to share the photos of their Sphynx family and share their love with the world.
“The main purpose was to show my daughters that even though their pets may not look like “traditional” pets, people could have positive reactions to them despite their different appearance.”
