]]>Reddit user Chrissy Joan (@cowskeeper) recently shared an amusing video that shows her playing with a squirrel. The tiny animal jumps all over Joan and seems to be having the time of its life.
“We helped this squirrel when he was a baby, and he comes back to us everyday to play,” wrote Joan in the caption.
The post quickly attracted the attention of other Reddit users, who were impressed by the bond between Joan and Samuel. Many of them wanted to know more, and luckily, Joan delivered. She uploaded several more videos of Samuel while sharing his backstory.
According to Joan, who owns a small farm nearby Vancouver, her family found Samuel when he was a baby. He was in need of help at the time, so Joan contacted one wildlife rescue organization to ask for advice. With the help of professionals, she nursed Samuel back to health and released him to the wild when he got better.
But it turned out that Samuel didn’t want to move away. So the squirrel made a home for himself on a nearby tree and is now visiting every day to get some love from Joan.

]]>These extreme conditions have been especially tough on the wildlife, which has limited means to deal with this heat. Luckily, animal lovers are doing their best to help them cool down, even for a bit.
One of them is Joe Rojas-Burke, a Portland-based science writer and former cell biology researcher, who recently decided to offer some refreshment to the local squirrels by leaving ice cubes on his porch. It didn’t take long for one thirsty squirrel to take the offer, and luckily for us, Rojas-Burke managed to capture this on camera.
The video, which since became viral on social media, shows a squirrel munching on an ice cube in an adorable way. She then realizes she’s being recorded, glancing at the camera several times, but can’t resist the ice and continues to lick it.
This isn’t the only way Rojas-Burke helps the animals in need during the hot days. He also regularly refills the birdbath in his yard so the birds and bees could stay hydrated.

]]>A while ago, Rober decided to try birdwatching and installed a bird feeder in his backyards. All went great until squirrels discovered this easy source of food and started raiding it. He tested several other feeders with protection against these little nut-loving animals, but they managed to crack them all.
Seeing that squirrels can outsmart every bird feeder on the market, Rober came up with the idea to test their capability in a different kind of way. He built a Ninja Warrior-styled obstacle course to see whether they can rise to this challenge.
Rober installed eight obstacles, ranging from ladder bridges and mazes to pitchfork tumblers and jumping platforms. At the end of the course, he placed a “prize,” which consisted of a box full of walnuts.
At first, the squirrels managed to advance only two or three obstacles before giving up. But, they continued to return each day, adapting their strategy and becoming more successful.
Watch the video below to find out whether squirrels managed to get to the end of the course, or NASA ingenuity got the best of them.
