For some people, flying is not a big deal. However, for others, it can be quite a stressful experience, which is why California’s San Francisco International Airport assembled a team of furry professionals known as SFO Wag Brigade to help stressed-out passengers.
The SFO Wag Brigade is a diverse group of therapy animals who are trained to provide comfort to travelers and make their flight experience more enjoyable. For a long time, the group consisted of several dogs, a rabbit, and a pig, but recently, a cat named Duke Ellington Morris successfully “applied” and got accepted to the Wag Brigade.
Introducing Duke, the airport’s official social media team revealed that he is the first cat that managed to get the necessary qualifications for the Wag Brigade.
Duke was initially discovered in a San Francisco feral cat colony. He then briefly stayed at the SF Animal Care and Control before being adopted. Soon, Duke’s humans noticed that the cat is “special” and decided to help him get credentials as an animal therapist.
“Since then, Duke has been certified as an animal therapist, helping humans of all ages deal with stress, illness, hardship, and putting smiles on their faces when they need it most,” San Francisco International Airport wrote on Instagram.
