Many people see pit bulls as a scary breed, but one pet owner came up with a brilliant way to combat this stereotype. Aniram loves dressing up her pit bull Akira and black cat Azuki in adorable outfits in an attempt to change people’s perceptions about these misunderstood animals.
Akira the Black Pit is followed by 1.3 million people on TikTok and 470,000 more on Instagram, and it all started when her owner Aniram came up with the idea to put her in a flower clown. The photo blew up online, and Aniram decided to keep posting more after realizing she could show the world that pit bulls aren’t that scary after all.
“When people see her dressed up, they don’t mind that she’s a pit bull. They see the cute little Crocs and the bows and the dresses… It helps with the stereotype: she is a service dog and she’s also dressed cute!” Aniram told People.
Akira is no longer Aniram’s only pet combating stereotypes on social media. She also adopted a black cat Azuki, despite the fact that dark-haired felines are often associated with superstition and bad luck. Azuki enjoys wearing adorable handmade outfits, just like Akira, and they’re proof that even the “scary” dog and cat breeds can bring nothing but magic into your life.
