Arizona Zoo Confirms Jaguar Who Attacked a Woman Won’t Be Put Down

Earlier this month, a woman was attacked by a female jaguar at an Arizona zoo after she crossed over a barrier to get a photo. According to Wildlife World Zoo, the woman sustained non-life threatening injuries to her arm and paramedics were called at the request of the family.

The woman wanted to take a selfie with the jaguar and got dangerously close to the wild animal. That’s when the jaguar grabbed her arm with its claws. She was left with severe lacerations on her arm.

After the story went viral, many people were asking what will happen to the jaguar who attacked the visitor. The zoo released a statement to assure the people that the wild animal won’t be put down and to remind everyone that those barriers are there for safety reason.

According to spokeswoman Kristy Morcum, the injured woman returned to the Wildlife World Zoo and said she “feels horrible about the bad publicity the zoo is getting regarding the incident,” she said.
