Artist Draws Maps That Look Like Animals

Denmark-based graphic artist Jeppe Ringsted, also known as Dau-Daw, comes up with fictional maps that look like animals.

“The ‘maps’ are all divided into different countries and every mountain, every lake, every city and every ocean in these pieces are named after everything relevant to the title of each piece,” Ringsted writes.

“Take for example Elephantidae – Land of the Elephant. Everything in this ‘map’ is named after both fictional and actual elephant species that are either extinct or still around today.”

🦒'GIRAFFOIDEA – Land of the Giraffe'🦒 The giraffe might have been the most requested animal for me to turn into a map – so I finally pulled myself together and made it! 😋 . . The ongoing series of artworks called Mappa Animalia is my attempt at visualizing the symbiosis between nature and life.
