Oftentimes, we don’t consider how some of our seemingly benign actions can impact the wildlife that surrounds us. A recent story shared by The Fox Project, a British animal rescue service, is a reminder that we should.
In a recent Facebook post, The Fox Project documented a rescue mission of a baby fox named Millie who got tangled up in a soccer net. The cute animal was unable to free itself but was put out of harm’s way thanks to a swift reaction by rescuers.
As it turns out, this isn’t an uncommon occurrence. Eight other fox cubs found themselves in a similar situation across the span of just several weeks. Baby foxes are curious by nature and love exploring their surroundings, but are not prepared to face with the challenges that human backyards and other spaces have in store for them.
The Fox Project pleaded with the public to do their part and take action so these kinds of events are prevented.
“This heartbreaking situation CAN BE PREVENTED by simply rolling up the netting when not in use. While many do not survive this ordeal, thankfully, Millie did,” The Fox Project wrote in the Facebook post while attaching a video of the rescue mission.
