Brock Afentul is Trying to Rehabilitate Rescued Toucans at His Sanctuary

Brock Afentul is a huge animal lover who has a special place for toucans in his heart, and he came up with a great way to channel his love for these unique birds. He runs a toucan sanctuary where he rehabilitates rescued toucans in need of a safe home.

Afentul is a toucan expert, specialist, and founder of bird sanctuary 2Can, described as the only toucan sanctuary in the US. He’s committed to providing a safe, loving, and natural environment to every bird in his care.

“Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide peace to a group of birds who are often overlooked in captivity. Although entertaining and so uniquely beautiful – toucans do very poorly in a pet environment and are often unwanted before their second year,” reads 2Can’s official website.

Despite his endless love for toucans, Afentul doesn’t recommend having them as pets. Due to their space requirements and demands, most people aren’t able to handle them on their own, and even a majority of sanctuaries are unequipped to house these highly energetic birds.

That’s why he decided to start his own, offering nearly 1,000 square feet of outdoor living space where 2Can’s rescues can live peacefully among each other. Taking care of them doesn’t come easy or cheap, so he’s using the power of social media to raise donations via Patreon and GoFundMe.
