Brooke Thivierge is Creating Beautiful Mugs Inspired By Insects

Brooke Thivierge is a pottery artist behind BAT’s ceramics, and most of her creations have one thing in common. They’re inspired by flora and fauna, and insects happen to be one of her most common subjects.

Thivierge received her degree in fine arts from the New Hampshire Institute of Art, and this was where she discovered her passion for pottery. After years of focusing on painting, she discovered a whole new world of possibilities once she started working with clay, and she decided to mix her knowledge of painting and functional pottery once she mastered underglaze.

She found success on Instagram under the moniker @batsceramics and attracted 30,000 followers to her page with her nature-inspired ceramics.

“My inspiration comes from flora and fauna from around the world. Growing up I was taught to respect the outdoors and never take more than you need. My work is meant to help others acknowledge their connection to nature, to always remember nature is a part of you, and never take it for granted,” she explains on her official website.

Thivierge’s body of work is a love letter to all creatures, great and small, but insects definitely hold a special place in her heart. From moths and butterflies to mantises and lady beetles, we’ve seen her pay homage to many different insect species through her body of work.
