Can Mold Be Cute? This Artist Thinks So

Except on some types of cheese, mold is usually frowned upon. Elin Thomas, however, decided to show a different side of the fuzzy fungus by creating mold felt fiber art. She uses crocheting, needle felting and embroidery to create truly unique Petri dishes that resemble mold.

Her artwork is tiny – you can hold the sculptures in your palm. She creates the elements separately, then sews them to the felt base before gluing everything to stay in place.
