Cat With Twisted Legs Finds Comfort in Her Doggie Best Friend

Lady Purrl was only 9-weeks-old when she was brought to her foster home. Unfortunately, due to a spinal injury, the little feline was born with twisted legs, which are unusable. However, it doesn’t stop her from being a happy little critter.

“Lady Purrl has a purr motor that is nonstop, and she loves to nestle in close to your ear so you can hear her soothing purr up close and personal,” her mom Shannon Basner told Love Meow and added that despite her disability, the feline could walk and climb things with her strong front legs.

When introduced to the rest of the crew, Lady Purrl immediately fell in love with Cinder, a patient and loving pup who adores foster kittens. Now the two share a special bond and cuddles are their favorite.

To learn how to manage through life, Lady Purrl has a personal mentor named HarPURR, who also can’t use his back legs.

Sorry, we have been quiet on here friends. Lady Purrl is doing better today, but we had a rough week with her. When we posted her the other day we were hopeful she was just a little off, but our instincts were unfortunately right. On Wednesday she didn't eat her food with the same gusto she usually has. She was acting like herself, playful, snuggly and sweet, but the food issue was a concern. Then on Thursday she didn't even want to eat her dinner, had some diarrhea and then vomit. The only good part was that she was not acting sick, she was alert, her gums were pink but she definitely had a tummy upset. We took her to the ER and then to our regular vet in the morning on Friday. She got X-Rays, bloodwork sent out and they also were checking her urine. She received some anti-nausea meds and they tried some other food which she ate some but didn't have any interest later on, but she did have more diarrhea. Yesterday we got the bloodwork results which were quite good and didn't show the possible signs of FIP (which is a relief but we will still have to monitor her closely). However, she was still not wanting to eat. This is dangerous for any cat, but especially for kittens. Therefore back we went to Midnight Sun and were grateful to get the care from Dr. Varman. She was pleased with her bloodwork and since Lady Purrl was not in a state of emergency, she prescribed Metronidazole to help with the diarrhea and we also gave her some subcutaneous fluids. The medicine tastes blechy 🤢, but she did start eating her kibble again and some baby food. Today she still has some diarrhea but is starting to eat a bit more. Thankfully she has her foster mama Cinder and HarPURR to help offer her the great comfort she truly needs. She is not out of the woods yet, so if you can send her all the love you can, we would apPURReciate it! If you would like to contribute towards her care you have several ways!Through our PayPal account, www.mojoshope/donate.org, through Venmo @mojoshope or a check in the mail to our address 2440 E Tudor Rd. 💜Update on our sweet Lady Purrl! 💜Yesterday she went to see our regular vet to discuss her progress, what we may be able to do for her and to verify that we are providing her with the proper care suitable for her needs. The visit was more of a meet and greet as many staff members were eager to meet her. Who can resist this little doll! We spoke thoroughly with our vet and discussed the spinal trauma. To determine if this can be treated, she will need to send the info to the specialist, but it isn’t likely. The main concern about the trauma is that the vertebrae aren’t fused and that hard movements like jumping, climbing or falls will cause further damage and possibly paralysis. We have already put into place safety precautions to ensure she is safe when we are at work (plexiglass kitty condo) & that she is carefully supervised when she is out zipping around! We asked about playtime with her feline buddies as that can get purretty rough at times. Our vet said exactly what we were thinking and hoped she would say, “Of course, let her be a cat. Once that is taken away her quality of life diminishes substantially.” This we completely agree with and will do our continued due diligence to help her stay safe and happy as we want her to enjoy every single moment! As for her legs, straightening them out at this point is not possible, however, if they become more of an issue with her spine, mobility and/or self-care we may have to consider amputation. That decision will not be made lightly and we will be sure to consider every option that is in her best interest as that is always our main goal with any rescue that comes into our @mojoshope program. #miraclepurrs #alaskaskaaats #catsofalaska #handicats #twistedlegs #specialneedskitten #specialneedscat #advoCATe #specialneedscats #eduCATe #tuxedocat #harpurrisboss #ladypurrl #cutenessoverload #inspire #thankful #compassion #kindness #inspiration #sendlove #somuchlove #warriorcats #coicommunity
