Are Cats Actually Domestic Animals?

Most cat owners will agree that their pets still resemble wild animals that don’t obey their attempts at domestication. That’s because cats were actually never domesticated in the way many other animals like dogs, cows, and goats were.

Humans have been living with dogs for over 30,000 years, and during that times, the anatomy of dogs drastically changed. Cats, on the other hand, are still very similar to their wild counterparts, despite living with humans for at least 10,000 years.

It’s possible that we’ll breed many more different cats in the future. They might have some qualities that are completely different from the cats we know today. There’s another possibility – that the cats will forever defy domestication.
