Cat’s Don’t like to Scratch All Furniture

If you’re thinking about getting a cat but are worried that it’ll scratch your new sofa, there are ways to prevent this from happening.

When you take in a kitten and teach it to use a scratcher, chances are it won’t ever touch your furniture. It’s a bit more complicated with older cats that are set in their ways. The key here is to be careful when choosing furniture fabric.

According to Catster magazine, there are some fabrics that cats generally stay away from. The magazine consulted a few interior designers who agreed that smooth fabrics are your best bet. Also, cats are not too interested in furniture that has metal or wooden legs and other parts.

“The best fabrics are ultrasuede and leather because a cat cannot claw into these,” said Sean Juneja, co-founder and CEO of Decor Aid.

Keep in mind that not all cats are the same and make sure and try testing a piece of fabric with your cat before you bring home furniture.
