Diana Beltrán Herrera is Transforming Paper Into Magical Bird Sculptures

Diana Beltrán Herrera is one of the most talented paper artists you’ll ever come across, and many of her sculptures have one thing in common. This talented Colombian artist finds inspiration everywhere around her, but she caught our eye with her spectacular bird sculptures.

Herrera hails from Colombia, but she’s currently based in Bristol, UK, where she graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of the West of England. She’s been honing her skills ever since and researching ordinary materials she could use in her art, before finally finding what she’s been looking for in paper.

She uses a wide range of skills from different disciplines, including illustration, sculpture, design, and photography when working on her paper creations. Her body of work explores a wide variety of different subjects, but most of her paper sculptures highlight the beauty and fragility of the natural world.

Flora and fauna are her main source of inspiration, and she seems to be inspired by one species in particular – birds. We’ve seen her use the radiant colors and textures of paper to capture the beauty of many different types of birds, from parrots to robins, and her vibrant sculptures will make you see them in a whole new light.
