Have you ever tried to give your cat belly rubs and been rejected? Why do most cats not enjoy belly rubs like dogs do?

Turns out, hair follicles on a cat’s belly and tail area are too sensitive to touch so they don’t like being stimulated there. “Cats prefer to be pet and scratched on the head, specifically under their chin and cheeks,” said Lena Provost, an animal behaviorist at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine to National Geographic. She advises that the best thing to do is to read a cat’s body language and see what it likes and dislikes.
