Gizmo the Dog Found Nine Years After He Went Missing in Las Vegas

Judith Monarrez and her family spent the past nine years looking for their lost dog Gizmo, and their search is finally over. Almost a decade after slipping past a faulty gate of their home in Las Vegas, Gizmo has finally been found and brought back home, alive and well.

Judith Monarrez was 28 and living with her parents in Las Vegas when their adorable Chihuahua disappeared without a trace. She never stopped trying to find him, even after earning her master’s degree, getting a job as a teacher, and moving into a home of her own.

Just when it seemed all hope was lost, Monarrez received an email they’d found a dog registered to her name, after a local vet scanned his microchip. Gizmo went through a lot while living on the streets – he was walking with a limp, some of his teeth were missing, and his eyes were severely infected.

Despite all these changes, Monarrez recognized Gizmo right away and she was brought to tears once they were finally reunited.

“Even though he looked so different, when I looked in his eyes I knew immediately it was Gizmo. And as soon as I said his name, he tilted his head and he didn’t stop staring at me,” she told NBC News and added they’re now showering him with all the love that they’ve been holding onto for all these years.
