People often struggle to see the immense beauty that the world of insects has in store, and Grant Menzies is here to change that. He’s a talented illustrator behind Coleoptera Art, who wants people to discover the beauty of beetles, insects, and nature through his artwork.
Menzies is an illustrator and designer from Sweden, who’s always been driven by the captivating intricacies of the natural world. Most of his illustrations are deeply rooted in his love for entomology, and even the name of his brand is a love letter to insects.
Coleoptera is the name of the order of insects that includes beetles, his primary source of inspiration.
“Coleoptera Art embodies my passion for nature and meticulous attention to detail, reflected in my artwork… Many of my pieces involve sustainably sourced and respectfully preserved beetles that serve as reference points,” he writes on his Etsy page, adding that a tree will be planted in association with One Tree Planted for each print he sells.
Menzies studies his subjects pretty closely, and his incredible attention to detail is one of his strongest qualities. His meticulous drawings perfectly capture the intricate details of each of his subjects, ranging from different types of beetles to grasshoppers, butterflies, and bees.
