No matter how much you travel, there are some places you’ll never be able to visit. One of them is this very unique island in Iceland.

Surtsey was formed after a volcanic eruption in 1963. Today, the island serves scientific purposes – the scientists want to understand how an ecosystem forms itself without humans affecting it. Only a few people are allowed to enter the island – they are, of course, scientists who get special instructions about not leaving anything behind and are thoroughly inspected before entering.

Even though one of the main rules is not to bring any seeds with you on the islands, one man managed to make tomatoes grow on it. Everybody was confused until they realized that he had pooped on some lava, planting the tomato seeds.
