Hundreds of Golden Retrievers Swarm to “Goldens in Golden” Event

The city of Golden in Colorado opened its doors to hundreds of golden retrievers this past weekend, and they were there for a pretty special reason. The “Goldens in Golden” event takes place in this small town every year, inviting the golden retriever owners to celebrate National Golden Retriever Day in style.

Hundreds of golden retrievers and their owners gathered under the city’s iconic Welcome to Golden Arch on February 8. They were there in honor of National Golden Retriever Day, which takes place on February 3, for the latest edition of “Goldens in Golden”, which was first introduced in 2019.

Golden retrievers have been gathering in this small Colorado town ever since. Golden’s economic development manager, Robin Fleischmann, explained they introduced this event as a way of encouraging more visitations and boosting profits for small businesses during slow winter months.

“It’s a wonderful convergence of people and dogs, and we love celebrating National Golden Retriever Day here. This event not only brings joy to the community but also introduces people to Golden, a town that may be a little quieter at this time of year,” Fleischmann told People.

Golden retriever owners traveled to Golden from all around the United States to pose with their pups under the Golden Arch. Even though this event was created with golden retrievers in mind, all leashed, trained, and friendly dogs are welcome to join them and make the “Goldens in Golden” gathering more paw-fect.

CBS Colorado captured the whole adorable event on video. Check it out below.
