A visit to Yellowstone National Park is a dream come true for most wildlife enthusiasts, but it turned into a nightmare for one man from Idaho. He was arrested after allegedly kicking a bison during his visit to Yellowstone and being injured in return.

Tourists are often tempted to get close to the wild animals during their visit to Yellowstone, despite the warnings to stay away. One man from Idaho chose to ignore those warnings, and he’s now suffering the consequences.

He was accused of kicking a bison in the leg on West Entrance Road, which eventually led to his arrest. In addition to being arrested for approaching and disturbing wildlife, he was also charged with being under the influence and disorderly conduct.

National Park Service issued a statement following the incident and reminded visitors to stay more than 25 yards away from all large animals while exploring Yellowstone, including bison, elk, bighorn sheep, deer, moose, and coyotes.

“Wildlife in Yellowstone National Park are wild and can be dangerous when approached. When an animal is near a campsite, trail, boardwalk, parking lot, or in a developed area, give it space… If need be, turn around and go the other way to avoid interacting with a wild animal in close proximity,” reads the statement by the National Park Service.
