Parrots are truly peculiar creatures, and taking care of them is easier said than done. Jen of The Green Bird Brigade learned that the hard way when he adopted her first budgie, and it took years of extensive research to gain enough knowledge to start helping other parrot owners.
Jen adopted her first budgie Kai in 2016, and immediately noticed there wasn’t much information about parrot care and diet online – so she took things into her own hands.
“Over the next several years, as my flock grew, so did my understanding of the complex needs of companion birds. Through LOTS of research and hands-on experience, I learned the best ways to feed and care for my birds,” she wrote on her official website.

A few years down the road, she gave up her career as a personal fitness trainer to become a parrot trainer full-time. She’s fully dedicated to increasing education and awareness about this bird species while advocating for better care of companion birds – especially through her work through Rockford’s Rescues, which helps birds in need.

Jen now shares her home with a flock of parrots, including Griffin, Gideon, and Cora, and they’re a true hit on social media. In addition to being followed by over 100,000 people on Instagram, Jen’s TikTok page @the_green_bird_brigade attracted over 70,000 followers and 4.4 million likes so far.
