Jess Anderson’s love for the ocean runs as deep as the ocean itself, and she’s using her handmade wearable art to celebrate its endless beauty. She’s the mastermind behind the jewelry brand Low Tide Landing, who uses her skills as a silversmith to take us under the sea.
Anderson is a self-proclaimed “mermaid and metalsmith”, born and raised in Southern California, who embarked on many artistic endeavors before discovering metalwork in 2015. She used to work as an art teacher until 2018, when she stepped away from her job to fully focus on her jewelry brand, Low Tide Landing.
Anderson’s jewelry is hand-crafted in coastal San Diego, and she’s trying to reflect the beauty and strength of the Pacific Ocean with each piece.
“I create jewelry that celebrates the wildness, the grace, and the beauty of our beloved ocean. My goal is to strike a unique balance between accuracy and artistry, drawing heavily on the forms, textures, and movement found in the sea and thoughtfully translating them into wearable art,” she writes on her official website.
Anderson’s jewelry is made from a wide range of different materials, including sea-tumbled jasper, agate, quartz, and shells. She enjoys exploring local beaches in search of these tiny sea treasures before carving and texturing them so they could be transformed into bespoke jewelry pieces.
