There’s something truly magical about all the amazing creatures that inhabit the depths of the ocean, and Katherine Quinn seems to agree. This talented artist and pattern designer from New Zealand is capturing the whimsy of the ocean through her quirky illustrations.
Quinn enjoyed drawing from a very young age, and her love for art never faded away. Once art became her true calling, she decided to focus on designing patterns because they allowed her to fully explore her passion for creating different worlds.
Quinn enjoys exploring a wide range of different subjects through her heart, but nature remains her favorite, and there’s a reason why fish, whales, and other marine animals often take center stage in her work.
“I was influenced at an early age by my dad, who worked at our local Marineland when he first arrived in New Zealand from Canada. He had lots of books and photos and I used to love looking through them with him,” Quinn explained on her official website.
Quinn’s father made her fall in love with the ocean, but her passion for snorkeling made this passion even deeper and more intense. She went to Rarotonga with her husband on their honeymoon and enjoyed discovering the amazing coral reef with all the wonderful fish during their snorkeling adventures.
