Koko is a Citron Cockatoo who has a unique personality, and he is his dad, Gera’s, dream come true. When Gera was a little boy, he had always dreamt about having “The Pirate Bird”. Years later, his dream finally came true when he welcomed Koko into his life. Since then, his life changed for the better, where the two “car surf” together all over Maui.

The Citron Cockatoo is super-famous on Maui Island, Hawaii, where his dad is a personal tour guide and an Uber driver. When the ride begins, Gera opens the car window so that the bird can enjoy the car ride.
“The wind is the water, and the surfboard is the car,” Koko’s dad said in an interview for The Dodo. “He holds onto the car door and just kind of leans out and just feels that wind. He wants it every single day.”

Koko is never caged and learned to fly thanks to his dad. According to his dad’s statement, he enjoys his freedom and laughs every day. The duo is well-known on social media, especially on TikTok.
When people see Gera and Koko’s heart-warming relationship, they are always interested in how he made it happen. So, he published a book titled Everyone Needs a Koko – Life with a Pirate Bird, where he describes his story about raising a beautiful, healthy, & loyal shoulder bird.
