The Instagram profile of the fox named Juniper has an educational purpose, according to her owner.

“I’m not the hero who rescued an orphaned baby fox from the wild. This isn’t that story,” writes the owner on Juniper’s Instagram page. “I want to use my Instagram to be an educational resource. She’s still a fox and acts like a fox. … It takes much more time and patience to care for her than it would [a dog or cat].”

She explains that foxes are messy pets who pee everywhere and smell horrid. Her ultimate goal? Stopping the misinformation that has started the trend of having foxes as novelty pets. They are hard work, but they are cute, right? See for yourself.

This has never happened before… As most of you know, I have been traveling A LOT since September. We've been in the process of finding a permanent facility to start our sanctuary. This has caused a little bit of stress on Juniper since she's so closely bonded with me. WELL, yesterday I returned home from being away for an entire week. ☁️ I sat with her on the floor and talked to her while she soaked up the attention. She then jumped onto my back and shoulders to get closer to my face. (Completely normal). I continued petting her and she slowly turned around. I thought she was getting ready to jump back onto the floor when suddenly… she squatted… and peed directly on my head. ☁️ I don't think I'm allowed to leave the house anymore. #YouNasty

It’s a dark and rainy day here today. All the animals just finished rough housing and now everyone is laying down getting ready to sleep through the storm. 🌧 It’s been a good day for reflection and I just want to tell you all that even though I may not be able to respond to all of the DM’s or emails we receive, I do read most of them as often as I can. I can’t tell you how thankful I am to wake up each day and be able to read such sweet and inspiring words. Many of you come to me and say that our little animal family helps you get through your bad days, helps calm you down when you’re anxious or when the world is just too much. They do the same for me everyday, and it’s amazing that they can touch you in the same way. 🌧 I just want to say that I’m elated that together we’ve created this community of real animal lovers and gentle souls. I see you guys in the comments helping others learn and answering questions about each other’s pets. It’s really astonishing and heart-warming, you guys. I could keep babbling on, but to sum it up… I’m just thankful. ❤️
