According to a new study, male puppies that play with female puppies will often let them win, despite the physical advantage.
The researchers believe this is because young male dogs find it more important to have an opportunity to play than to win and lose friends.
Lead author of the said research, Camille Ward, said that they “found that self-handicapping tends to occur in conjunction with play bows. A play bow is a signal that dogs use when they want to communicate playful intentions to a potential play partner.”
