Last month, runner enthusiast Khemjira Klongsanun from Bangkok, Thailand, joined a local marathon and changed the life of a stray dog.

About 7 miles into the 26-mile run, a tiny puppy on the roadside caught the attention of Klongsanun, and there was no owner or mother in sight.

She immediately stopped and scooped the lonely puppy into her arms and for the next 19 miles, she carried the pooch with her while she ran. And together they crossed the finish line.

After the race, Klongsanun decided to adopt the puppy and make her part of the family. She called the puppy Nong Chom and has since taken her to a vet clinic for checkup. Then she introduced her to her family’s other dogs. It didn’t take long for Nong Chom to fit in the family.

Klongsanun and Nong Chom returned to where she’d been found to look for her mother and siblings who might need help too, but it appears that Nong Chom has been there all alone.  Luckily, she has been rescued by a marathoner who has a soft heart for animals.

Now, the once-lonely dog has a forever home and a family that will truly love her.
