While most people tend to adopt cats or dogs as their pets, Adelaide-based man Jeff Cheng went a completely different route. After seeing a man walking his pet alpaca, Cheng immediately knew he had found a perfect animal companion.
He decided to run the idea with his wife Sophie, who agreed while thinking her husband won’t go through with it. Little she knew that he was pretty serious in his intentions.
Jeff started searching for ways to get an alpaca as a pet, and several weeks later he managed to find an alpaca farm that made his dreams come true. He came home with the newest member of the Chang family, Alfie The Alpaca, only to find that Sophie had mixed feelings about this.
Still, Mrs. Cheng quickly warmed up to Alfie and developed a strong bond with the alpaca, embracing it as the full-time member of the family.
In order to show others how awesome it is to have an alpaca as a pet, Chengs set up an Instagram account for Alfie on which they document the alpaca’s everyday adventures. Social media users didn’t take long to fall in love with this cute pet, and he has since become one of the most popular pets on Instagram.
