Tortoises are known for being one of the slowest creatures on the planet. Well, not this one! Helix, the tortoise is a true little fighter. He was born with a spinal deformity, and couldn’t use his back legs, because they stick straight up into the air. He was having a hard time getting around, but his dad found a perfect solution; he put fingerboard wheels on him.
“He just took right off! It was like a new tortoise. From then on, he just kind of thrived. Drinking by himself, eating by himself. And is a totally different personality. When his wheels aren’t on, it’s almost like he’s defeated, like, ‘I’m not as good as I can be,” Helix’s dad shared with The Dodo. “You put the wheels on and he explores his enclosure, he runs around.”
