Nicola Fewings is Collecting Cornwall Shells & Turning Them Into Art

There’s something truly magical about strolling along sandy shores and scavenging for seashells, and Nicola Fewings has been enjoying it for years. She’s the mastermind behind the brand Lily & See, who enjoys collecting shells from the beaches of Cornwall and transforming them into works of art.

Fewings fell in love with beachcombing while spending family holidays at the seaside, and her love for the ocean didn’t fade away as the years went by. She wanted to study marine biology for as long as she could remember and eventually chased her dream at Plymouth University.

Her love for the sea followed her everywhere she went – from Mexico, where she drove boats and taught volunteers about the marine world, to the Maldives, where she worked as a SCUBA diving tour operator for eight years. She eventually decided to settle in Cornwall, where her love for beachcombing reached new heights.

After collecting a bunch of shells during a touring trip around the southwest of England, she didn’t want to leave them just sitting around. She decided to arrange them and put them in a frame, and this marked the start of a beautiful adventure. She started coming up with original artworks made out of shells and other seaside treasures, ethically handpicked from the shores of Cornwall, and eventually started her own brand Lily & See.
