Touriño is a talented watercolor painter from Chiapas, Mexico, and a single glance at her Instagram page will tell you what her art is all about. She specializes in painting insects, and her incredibly detailed watercolor paintings attracted almost 30,000 followers to her Instagram page.
Touriño’s decision to focus on painting insects wasn’t a coincidence. As a mom herself, she wanted her illustrations to unlock kids’ awareness about the importance of biodiversity and the role these tiny creatures play in our ecosystem.
“Illustrating insects allows me to observe the tiniest details and reproduce these beautiful creatures for people to have in their homes without harming them. Also, children are the future of tomorrow and we need to teach them the importance of these small dwellers of our world,” she writes on her official website.
Her drawings ended up spreading bug love to hundreds of homes in the shape of many different products inspired by her paintings, ranging from prints and postcards to mugs, tote bags, and shirts.
