Rocking Horse Cafe & Gallery in Alnwick has been hosting border collie meetups for years, and their latest was one for the books. Over 100 border collies and their owners flocked to this small English town to set a new attendance record, and this number will most likely keep rising in the years to come.
Cafe owner Andrew Byne hosted the first border collie meetup back in 2022 because they’re his favorite dog breed, and he felt it would be fun to get them together for a photoshoot. He expected only a few people to show up, but the border collie meetup truly blew up after he decided to share the event on social media.
The first meetup saw 68 dogs in attendance, while 80 dogs showed up the next year, only for that number to finally cross 100 in 2024. In addition to being popular with the local border collie owners, the meetup at the Rocking Horse Cafe & Gallery has been attracting people from all over England, with dogs from Cornwall and Yorkshire attending every year.
In addition to being a great opportunity for border collies to socialize, this meetup also serves as the fundraising event for the non-profit SHAK, a local sanctuary for abused, mistreated, and neglected dogs.
