Having snakes and reptiles and insects isn’t an easy task, but Lorti of Pale Scales is using her platform to show other people that being a reptile owner has its perks. She’s been keeping snakes for five years and her social media platform is a safe space for all the fellow reptile lovers out there.
Lorti started keeping snakes in 2019 and she owed many exotic species over the years, but this wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision. She spent many years admiring local snakes and gaining interest in herpetoculture before deciding to finally welcome reptiles into her home.
Lorti now describes herself as “naturalistic, but with dragons”, who’s using the power of social media to share her passion for the cold-blooded with the world.
“I wanted a life away from people, surrounded by nature, with quiet companions that could help to show me the intention of reality… I knew that I needed to understand everything about them that I could, and became a student of my passion,” she wrote on Instagram.
Lorti is using her Instagram page and YouTube channel to show off her beautiful reptile companions and the DIY enclosures she made for them. She enjoys sharing detailed instructions with her followers, in the hope she’ll help fellow keepers take the best possible care of their pets.
