Hungarian photographer Zoltan and his fiancée Agnes recently took a trip to Cape Verde’s island of Sal. During their time on the island, Zoltan noticed that the place is not only filled with sandy beaches and palm trees but also with lots of dogs running around and playing with tourists.

Being an avid animal lover himself, Zoltan decided to use his time there and explore the life of Cape Verde’s stray dogs through the lens of his camera. This developed into his small passion project and he ended up bringing back some amazing photos.

“All the dogs were so friendly and so calm. Some of them were very playful, some of them were a little sad.” – wrote Zoltan on Facebook. “Some of them even had collars on, so I assumed they had owners, but they were still hanging around with the others on the streets or on the beach.
I think locals see them as part of everyday life, they even feed them sometimes and they also got fed by the tourists.”
