Scout, an adorable dog from Illinois, has such an unusual look that he is regularly mistaken for a wolf and a coyote. So much so that his owner, Madeline, decided one day to count how many times passersby compared him to its distant cousins.
In a viral video shared on Madeline’s TikTok, she and Scout can be seen taking a walk. It isn’t long before someone approaches them and tells Madeline that Scout looks like a wolf.
By the end of the walk, one more person mistakes Scout for a wolf, while three others say that he looks like a coyote.
“i’m not lying when i say someone came up to my car to tell me he looks like a coyote. i wouldn’t have it any other way! also yes, scout hates walking,” Madeline wrote in the caption of the clip, which was viewed 8.4 million times since being posted in late December.
While Scout’s looks caused passersby to mistake him for a wild animal, it appears that it worked wonders on internet users.
“I love him and his lil scrungly coyote vibe,” one TikToker wrote.
“His face doesn’t look like a coyote, he has a cute doggy face,” another added.
