Senior dogs are a different kind. They can be grumpy, stubborn, and don’t like to be bossed around. But that doesn’t make us love them any less, and their behavior is often so amusing.
TikTok user @emyzee recently shared a video on TikTok showing a senior dog named Toby refusing to get help while climbing the stairs. The clip quickly went viral, reaching 1.4 million views in a week, with social media users obviously loving Toby’s persistence.
In the video, Toby, who lives in a senior pet sanctuary, can be seen having trouble climbing the stairs because “he messed up his leg.” When @emyzee tries to help him, he barks, letting her know that he can do it by himself.
@emyzee still decides to give a slight push to Toby to get him over the final stairs, but the dog doesn’t even acknowledge her help. Instead, he simply walks away.
“He has a messed up leg and has trouble getting up the stairs but GOD FORBID i help him,” @emyzee explains in the caption.
@emyzee later explained in the comments section that Toby arrived in the sanctuary with a bad leg. They believe it was broken at some point and never got fixed.
Still, it seems like Toby isn’t letting a “messed up” leg prevent him from being independent, and we applaud his determination.
