Service Dog Cunningly Guides Mom Into His Favorite Pet Store

Thai, a service dog, has been guiding Danielle Sykora for four years now and he’s doing a great job except when there are treats nearby.

Danielle is currently a student at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and during weekends, she and her dog travel from school to her home in New Jersey. Danielle and her sister, Michele Sykora, will go to the mall together and do a little shopping during these visits. Thai also loves taking trips to the mall for his own motives.

On one incident, her father noticed that, without Danielle knowing, Thai likes visiting a particular pet store called Cool Dog Gear.

“The first time my sister ever went to this mall, she was with my dad and Thai just veered right into the store without her knowing,” Michele shared to The Dodo. “The second time we went back there, I wanted to witness it for myself, so we walked in the direction of the pet store and of course he walked right in there again!”

Michele decided to have her phone ready to capture what the sneaky dog is doing. She caught his tricks on video and shared it to her Twitter account, where it quickly went viral.

“If there is any word to describe Thai, it is probably ‘foodie,’” Michele explained. “He will do anything to get a crumb on the floor.”

Danielle wasn’t surprised when her family revealed to her where Thai had been leading her. She said that this is not the first time something like this happened. At her school, Thai will take her to Starbucks, since he knows she loves coffee and there’s always a Puppuccino waiting for him. There’s also a trip one summer that the clever dog leads her to every store that sold food, skipping the clothing shops she was interested in.

But for all Thais’ naughtiness, he never leaves his mom’s side. “Thai and Danielle have a relationship only a person with a service dog could ever understand. He is her eyes. He goes with her absolutely everywhere,” Michele shared. “Even when Thai isn’t working and we are home, if she leaves the room he will get up and follow her everywhere.”
