Pretty much every store deals with shoplifters every once in a while, but Steven from Dorset took things to a whole new level. He’s a shoplifting seagull, who got banned from a store in Wyke Regis, Dorset after stealing packets of chips for years.
Steven Seagull became a pretty infamous thief in Dorset after a six-year stealing spree that saw him targeting the Lyndale Central store. Things got so drastic that the staff of this store in Wyke Regis had to put up posters urging customers to close the door behind them so Steven wouldn’t get inside.
Steven stole 30 packets of chips in the past two months alone, and the store manager Stuart Harmer had to come up with a strategy to put a stop to his stealing spree.
“[He] comes in the shop when the doors open, puts his head around the corner of the door, nicks a packet of crisps, and flies off with it… Trying to explain to the powers that be that I’ve got stock loss because of a seagull – they think it’s a joke,” Harmer told BBC.
Despite the posters, Steve’s chips-stealing mission continues, and he has a habit of banging his beak on the door to open them. Once he manages to grab the chips, Steve uses his beak to open them, and eats them in the street with his feathered friends.
