In the South American rainforests of western Amazon Basin lives a special species of monkeys – Pygmy Marmoset, the smallest monkey in the world.

It weighs just over 100 grams (3.5 oz) and you may know it as the Pocket Monkey, Dwarf Monkey, or Little Lion, as many people call this species.

Pygmy Marmoset tends to hold on fat which makes it fluffy and really cute. It’s a natural way for it to look larger.

These monkeys live in groups of no more than 12 members. Though they don’t like big crowds, they are pretty close to their peers and love spending time together. They are known to mourn after one of their members dies.

Usually, they are born in sets of twins, though some mothers give birth to three or four babies at a time. Much like human babies, they are needy and constantly cry for attention, which is hard on their mothers.
