Resin art experienced a true boom in recent years, and Yanna Garecka of Squidlicks managed to put her own twist on this art form. She’s using her nature-inspired creations to preserve the fleeting beauty of flowers, moss, lichen, and other botanical objects.
Garecka is based in Richmond, Virginia, and she’s been working with resin for about a decade. She’s a jewelry designer, so most of her resin creations take the shape of earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and other pieces of wearable art.
Garecka’s obsession with nature led her on this artistic journey, and she was initially only looking for a material that had the power to showcase actual pieces of nature. Resin proved to be the perfect choice, and it allowed her to perfectly capture the beauty of her botanical subjects.
Garecka found a huge success with her Instagram page Squidlicks as the years went by, and sold her botanical jewelry to hundreds of nature lovers on Etsy.
“What was a therapeutic hobby for me in my early years has grown into a full-on fascination and small business. Working with materials that I could string on thread, wire, and chain, I’ve found that manipulating objects into wearable accessories is a satisfying creative outlet and a necessity,” she wrote on her Etsy page.
