]]>Rick Martinez and Brian Gordon live in Monrovia, and they were recently visited by some pretty interesting guests. Martinez was eating his lunch when he heard some commotion in the backyard and decided to take a look outside.
He spotted a mama bear with two cubs strolling into the backyard, and she even hopped into a pool at one point while two cubs watched on. Martinez realized that the bears were just passing through, so he decided to keep a safe distance and let them do their own thing while capturing their adventures on camera.
Most people would lose their minds if they stumbled upon bears in their backyard, but not this couple. Ricky Martinez told NBCL they weren’t too alarmed because they live at the edge of a national forest and frequently see bears on the property.
“We tend to get lots of wildlife crossing through here. We are always left in awe when we see the bears, especially a momma bear with cubs. We haven’t seen cubs that little before, and it was the cutest thing ever,” explained Martinez.

]]>TikTok user @melmelll7197 recently shared a video that shows two bears crashing a barbecue in their backyard. One of the bears can be seen opening the grill and finding 10 burger patties being cooked inside. Without thinking twice, the animal proceeds to down all 10 burgers in less than a minute.
The clip then shows a bear smashing a can of Diet Coke and presumably washing down the large amount of burgers it just ate.
The video became a huge hit on social media, amassing 1.7 million views since being posted in late September. It also attracted thousands of comments from other TikTokers, who used the opportunity to crack some jokes and imagine how the bears felt when they saw a huge feast being set up for them.
“Bear said ‘all this… for MEEE!???’,” one user wrote.
“’ Don’t feed the bears’. Bear- ‘I’ll feed myself, thanks,’” another added
So, next time you are hosting an outside barbecue, make sure to be on the lookout for uninvited guests. Or simply get more burgers so everyone can enjoy it.

]]>Longwood, Florida, native Edgar Jason Levin recently shared a video recorded by his doorbell camera that shows a bear taking an issue with his driveway holiday decorations. The clip shows the animal knocking down illuminated reindeer before stealing one and making a run for it. The stolen reindeer was later found abandoned not far away from the driveway.
After the video went viral, Levin spoke with WSVN-TV and revealed that this isn’t actually the first time that bears messed up his holiday decoration. He put up a similar installation last year, and two bears came to take it down. Apparently, the bears are not so appreciative of his festive mood.
According to Levin, he isn’t holding a grudge against the bears. Also, this even brought some entertainment to the family, especially his kids.
“The kids love it,” said in a chat with WSVN-TV. “As soon as I showed them, they were like, ‘Oh my God! It’s so great! They just go crazy with it.”

]]>There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the true etymology of Bern’s name, but one legend has it that the founder of the city named it after the first animal he encountered while hunting—which just happened to be a bear.
This account was often disputed but bears still remained the symbol of this city, and they were made the heraldic animal of the seal and coat of arms of Bern all the way back in the 13th century.
Bear motifs are now scattered all around the Swiss capital, from fountains and façade decorations to some of the city’s top attractions, such as the clock tower Zytglogge. You can also buy many souvenirs and even food shaped like bears, such as chocolate and gingerbread cookies!
It’s also possible to see bears in person if you ever find yourself in Bern. Most famously, they can be found at Bärengraben aka Bear Pit, and the adjacent BärenPark and you can visit them all year round, free of charge.
