“Sometimes it’s challenging to give the animals recognizable expressions without making them look too human. I still try to keep the comic somewhat grounded in reality,” the artist told Bored Panda in an interview and added that he thinks that his illustrations got better over time.

“I still keep the backgrounds simple (or non-existent), but I think there’s more consistency in the look and style of the animals,” Craig revealed.

His artwork has attracted a large number of people, and his Instagram page counts over 455,000 followers, whilst each post has tens of thousands of likes.

“I’m satisfied as long as I’m doing something creative. Thankfully, exposure from the comic has led to other opportunities and I hope it continues to serve as a sort of portfolio for my writing and illustration,” he said.

“There were many reasons but one of the main ones is the type of fur they have,” the artist shared on her Instagram profile. “My boyfriend is very allergic to almost all cats and some dogs with shiny type fur. Ferrets have soft wooly coats and hair structure similar to humans so you are less likely to be allergic. However, some people still are, though.”

Susie Yi is a self-taught illustrator and the person behind the comics called Cat & Cat Comics which follow the adventures of a cat named Mickey, and Susie, a girl who understands cat language.

Yi began drawing her comics in 2018 during a drawing challenge where artist from all around the world drew something every single day for the entire month.

“I started this webcomic in mid-October 2018, after years of only drawing intermittently,” Yi shared with Bored Panda. “I’d been feeling discouraged about making art, especially when I’d come back home from work and look at all the existing art out there — it was all at once inspiring and daunting to try to pick up my pen again.”

Stowe adopted Coral in 2016 after he was living alone and decided that he wanted a pet to keep him company. He quickly realized that having a cat can sometimes be a true roller-coaster.

Stowe decided to share his adventures and funny situations with Coral and Coral soon became the star of this comics.

“I never knew that cats had such a sarcastic personality on ’em. They have so many looks that reflect human ones that I get quite the kick out of seeing on a cat. Slow glazed blink. Eye rolls. Side eye. There was so much there, and from that, so much to draw from.” – he told Bored Panda.

The comics quickly gained traction and became quite popular among social media users. This prompted Stowe to quit his day job and focus solely on this project.

“Even though I’ve had her for three years now, there are always new surprises every week from her and I look forward to many more years of surprises” – the artist added.
