The citizens of Llandudno, a small coastal town in north Wales, have decided not to take any chances regarding the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. They are respecting the social distancing recommendations, and are mostly spending their time indoors. And while this will helped them minimize the health risk, it also brought them unusual guests.

Seeing that there is little to none people in Llandudno, a herd of goats decided to make a claim on the town and take over its streets. For the past several days, the goats have been walking on people’s lawns, eating flowers, and using all the free space for all sorts of shenanigans.

Andrew Stuart, Manchester Evening News video producer, and Llandudno resident were the first ones to reports this interesting occurrence.

Stuart has been so intrigued by the behavior of goats, that he decided to document their daily activities.

According to the locals, it isn’t unusual to spot goats in Llandudno, but they have never visited the town in such a number. It’s believed that the empty streets attracted them and made them feel at home.

The locals don’t mind their new guests as they provide them with free entertainment during self-isolation. If there is nothing interesting on TV, they can just take a peek through the window and see what goats are up to this time.

A recent episode of I Wonder Why published by World by Charlie, explains why goats have rectangular pupils.

Turns out, the unusual pupil shape helps goats see better, which then helps them stay safe. To learn more about this phenomenon, simply click play below.

A study published in 2015 found that whether you’re the hunter or the hunted is a great predictor of how your eyes will be shaped.

“For species that are active both night and day, like domestic cats, slit pupils provide the dynamic range needed to help them see in dim light yet not get blinded by the midday sun,” lead author Martin Banks of UC Berkeley said back then. “However, this hypothesis does not explain why slits are either vertical or horizontal. Why don’t we see diagonal slits? This study is the first attempt to explain why orientation matters.”

Intelligence is everywhere around us. Though humans have some obvious advantages over many animal species, that doesn’t mean that we’re the only ones intelligent on our planet. In fact, there are several members of the animal kingdom who have proven to have impressive cerebral skills and cognitive abilities.

Chimpanzees

Chimpanzees are the closest animal relatives we humans have. The DNA similarity is incredible – according to biology, we’re 99% the same! One study that was published 10 years ago showed that chimps can even be better than humans in certain memory tests.

Goats

For a long time, scientists have suspected that goats are much smarter than we give them credit for. A test conducted in Australia showed that they are able to solve puzzles in order to get to food – nine out of 12 goats needed only four tries!

Elephants

It’s a common saying that elephants can memorize things for a long time. But did you know that they are able to distinguish among different languages?

Dolphins

Among some other things, dolphins can recognize themselves in the mirror.
