Is there anything better than unwinding with your phone, scrolling through cute images on Instagram? To make evenings like this special, make sure you’re following all the best accounts.

One of our recommendations is Honey I Dressed the Pug, run by Maitri who posts adorable photos of her and her pug Ari. They often dress in matching outfits and those photos are their followers’ favorite.

“Ari is everything a pug should be – food lover, social butterfly, loves napping, shadows his human everywhere, but most importantly, he has got the Pug Swag,” Maitri’s website reads. “Named after ‘Ari Gold’ from Entourage, similar to his screen name inspiration, Ari exudes charm and has a penchant for fashion. Ari currently lives in New York, but has lived in London for over three years. He loves hanging out with his humans. Whether it’s checking out new spots on weekends or traveling to new cities, he is always game for some fun.”

A pug named Dex was brought in as a stray to the Austin Animal Center in Texas in January, weighing just 10 pounds and in serious danger of losing his sight. The year-old pup was then taken in by Pug Rescue Austin, where it was discovered that he was in much worse condition than they initially thought.

According to Signe Corbin, founder and director of Pug Rescue Austin, his demodectic mange and skin infections, which caused him completely hairless except for his curlicue of a tail, were so critical that veterinarians suspected he had been suffering from the disease for up to six months.

“He had ‘dry eye’ (low tear production) and both of his eyes were infected,” Corbin told The Dodo. “He had painful corneal ulcers from not only the lack of tear production but likely from constant itching and rubbing his face, thus traumatizing his eyes. He squinted and kept them closed most of the time.”

Dex was given antibiotics and antifungal medications. He was also dewormed and given medicated baths to soothe his inflamed skin. To save his vision, they had to administer five different eye drops every 2 hours.

“He was very scared the first few days, but as he started to heal and feel better, he quickly warmed up to people and became particularly attached to his foster,” Corbin shared. “We discovered he loved to curl up in round beds with higher sides on them and he loved fleece blankets against his skin.”

“After a week or so, he became relaxed enough to start wagging his tail,” Corbin continued, “and after another week, he started enjoying chews, toys and interacting with other dogs.”

Dex was not the most handsome when he first arrived at the rescue center, but the adorable dog quickly earned followers on Facebook and those following the hashtag #dexupdate are spreading his story to contribute monetary and in-kind donations to help him in his recovery. One of them was Beth Legacki, who previously adopted two dogs from Pug Rescue Austin. She followed Dex’s story since the beginning and contributed to his wellness. When Dex was healthy enough for adoption, Legacki was first in line.

It was an emotional moment for Legacki to finally hold Dex. “I cried,” she told The Dodo. “He was shy, but I knew in my heart he belonged in our home.”

After a few months, the cute pug had gone from living alone on the streets to gaining a loving family with five rescue dog siblings.

“He has become very dominant in an adorable way,” Legacki explained. “He’s tiny and the most confident and feisty of our pack. He’s super proud and knows he has ‘street cred.’”

“He makes us laugh. He brings warmth and love,” Legacki added. “It’s hard to not get emotional when we look at him and think about where he came from.”

A senior pug named Charleston Chew has just moved into an apartment building with his owner in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He’s yet to familiarize with his new surroundings and as a result, he started to howl. Charleston is already 11 years old and no longer a young strong pup he used to be but he had overcome the challenges that come with aging.

His eyesight began to weaken last year and the elderly pug developed a direct technique for getting attention from his owner, Sharla Wilson, wherever she may be. He howls, as in, really loudly.

“It’s the most horrific sound you’ve ever heard,” Sharla told The Dodo. “His howl is crazy. It’s a startling noise, to say the least. It sounds like some sort of alien life form.”

She adopted Charleston when he was still a puppy and they’ve been best buddies ever since.

“I have to physically touch him — then he’s happy and well again. He just wants to know where I am,” Wilson said. “He’s very quirky and very spoiled.”

There are times when Charleston will howl very early in the morning, after getting lost on his way back to bed. “He’s just bananas,” she said. “He’s a little grandpa.”

Sharla has gotten used to her noisy pug’s terrible howling but since moving into their new pad, she’s worried her neighbors might be frightened by his howling.

“No one had complained yet. I was told that it was a quiet building, so I made a note thinking we’d get ahead of it,” Sharla shared. “I put this sign up as an advisement, like, ‘Sorry everybody. This maniac is going to howl.’”

Megan Jones was among the first people to spot the note. “I accidentally rode the elevator to the fifth floor,” Megan told The Dodo. “I was annoyed with myself but then looked up to see Charleston’s sign which made the inconvenience totally worth it.”

She posted her approval via Twitter and her tweet quickly went viral.

Sharla was surprised when she learned that thousands of people were sharing her letter online and she knows her dog wouldn’t mind the attention he’s getting.

“He loves everybody — dogs, cats, kids — everybody and everything. He’s an absolute lovebug in all respects,” she shared. “Everyone is his new best friend.”
