The Giraffe Conservation Foundation Saves Giraffes in the Wild

“The Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) is the only NGO in the world that concentrates solely on the conservation and management of giraffe in the wild throughout Africa,” according to the website.

GCF is currently involved in giraffe conservation initiatives in 15 African countries. From program implementation to providing technical support to partners, from monitoring to hands-on conservation actions, GCF is the leading organization in supporting a sustainable future for giraffes and their natural habitats.

Last month, on June 21, they celebrated World Giraffe Day, an annual event initiated by GCF to raise support, create awareness, and shed light on the challenges these longest-necked animals face in the wild. They celebrate it every year on June 21. NGOs, governments, zoos, schools and other conservation organizations host events on this date to help raise awareness for giraffes.

“World Giraffe Day 2019 is dedicated to Twiga Tracker, the largest giraffe GPS satellite tracking programme ever in Africa. With your support we can reach our ambitious WGD 2019 fundraising goal of US$1,000,000 to secure a future for all giraffe in Africa,” the foundation added.
